چکیده

A 14-year-old girl was admitted with generalized tonic-clonic convulsions for 2min along with tongue biting. Her family reported previous recurrent attacks of muscle cramps and carpo-pedal spasms of four months’ duration prior to admission but they had never previously sought medical help. The patient had a good appetite and no diarrhea, with no prior history of cardiovascular disease or symptoms. She was not on any regular medications. She lived mainly indoors, avoided sunlight, and wore a veil outdoors mainly due to traditional beliefs. Her family noticed an abnormal gait eight months prior to presenting at our clinic and she usually asked for help to stand from a squatting position.

Determination of sensitivity and specificity of QT interval in ECG of diabetic patients for ndiagnosis of cardiac autonomic neuropathy

one of the important complications of diabetes mellitus that physicians pay less attention to is diabetic autonomic neuropathy(DNA) ,especially cardiac autonomic neuropathy (CAN).this has a poor prognosis and is accompanied by sudden death risk, recently several investigations that were carried out for CAN detection ,suggested that QT-interval prolongation in these patients is an important diagn...

بررسی QT طولانی در کودکان مبتلا به کری مادرزادی: گزارش کوتاه

Background: Long QT syndromes (LQT) are genetic abnormalities of ventricular repo-larization, with an estimated incidence of about one per 10000 births. It is characterized by prolongation of the QT interval in electrocardiogram (EKG) and associated with a high risk for syncope and sudden death in patients. Type of this syndrome is association with congenital deafness. Our objective was to eval...

Prolonged QT interval in the infants of diabetic mothers

Background: The prevalence of gestational diabetes mellitus is rising. Myocardial hypertrophy is the most common cardiac disorder in the infants of diabetic mothers, which hypothetically can cause fatal arrhythmias. This study investigated prolonged QT in the newborns of diabetic mothers in Afzalipour Hospital in Kerman City, in 2015. Methods: This case-contro...

Changes in QT interval before and after hemodialysis

Background: Cardiovascular mortality and morbidity are high in chronic renal failure (CRF) patients. Increased dispersion of QT intervals is known to predispose to ventricular arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death. This study was conducted to assess the effect of hemodialysis (HD) on corrected QT (QTc) intervals and their dispersions (QTd) in chronic hemodialyzed patients. Methods: Fifty-eight p...

Factors associated with a prolonged QT interval in liver cirrhosis patients.

AIM The aim of this study was to identify factors associated with prolonged QT interval in liver cirrhosis patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS Thirty-eight patients with liver cirrhosis were enrolled in this study. The maximal QT interval (QTmax), heart rate-corrected QT interval (QTc), QT interval in lead DII (QTII), and mean QT interval (QTm) were determined manually, using 12-lead electrocardi...

Combined QT interval and voltage criteria improve left ventricular hypertrophy detection in resistant hypertension.

QT interval parameters have been associated with left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) in hypertensive patients. The aim of this study is to assess this relationship in resistant hypertension and, in particular, to evaluate whether any QT interval parameter could provide additive information for LVH beyond that obtained from the best electrocardiographic voltage criterion. In a cross-sectional stu...
